Bandwagon! (a combine) at Machine Project, Los Angeles, CA
A musical evening featuring questionable uses of technology inspired by David Tudor’s Bandoneon! (a combine). May include accordions, saxophones, drums, live video projection and/or dancing Coke cans. Curated by Isaac Schankler, with Casey Anderson, Scott Cazan, Daniel Corral, Sean Deyoe, Corey Fogel and Christopher O’Leary.
I will be presenting Accordion! (pronounced "accordion factorial") for accordion and electronics, a piece inspired by David Tudor's remarkable composition. Tudor reconfigures the bandoneon, a traditional folk instrument, with a variety of technological components, including frequency modulators, amplifiers and oscilloscopes. Accordion! reimagines this in the digital realm, incorporating contemporary machine learning techniques to create a continuously evolving, ever-changing landscape of musical textures.
