Along with Jason Grier and Michael Pisaro, I'll be directing a performance of John Cage's Song Books as part of Dog Star Orchestra V, an annual festival which features new and classic works by a number of composers working in the experimental tradition.  First published in 1970, Song Books is a rarely performed masterpiece, a collection of short works combining song, theatre and electronics in an unprecedented kaleidoscopic array.  Concert also features works by Christian Wolff, Julia Holter, Mari, Michael Pisaro, and John Lely.
