A few things

Many things have been happening lately, making it harder to update this page in a timely fashion.  Here are a few of those things:

a) Space Opera, the debut album from Prisoner of Vampires, is now available from Sleepy Mammal Sound.

b) This summer, I will be an Associate Artist-in-Residence at the Atlantic Center for the Arts, working and studying with composer/performer Mark Applebaum, as well as a host of other talented composers, musicians, video artists, performance artists, etc.

c) Along with Michael Pisaro of CalArts and Jason Grier of Human Ear Music, I will be co-directing a performance of John Cage's Song Books on June 2nd, as part of the annual Dog Star Orchestra experimental music festival.

Prisoner of Vampires album to be released by Sleepy Mammal Sound

The excellent new Chicago-based label Sleepy Mammal Sound will soon be releasing the first album from Prisoner of Vampires (my synthpop project/band).  Updates and audio samples can be found here.

My music (briefly) featured in acclaimed indie film "Half-Life"

A short excerpt of an improvisation I did with violinist Richard Kim and saxophonist/clarinetist Bryan Pardo is currently featured in the movie Half-Life by director Jennifer Phang. The film premiered at Sundance and got great reviews, and has since played at the SXSW Film Festival, the Seattle International Film Festival, the LA Film Festival, and won the GenArt Film Festival in NYC.  The film continues to appear at screenings in and around Los Angeles, so keep an eye out!  More information about the film can be found here.

Two new compositions

Variations/Web for piano and White Mass for piano and electronics have been added to the compositions page, including a four-minute audio excerpt from the ending of White Mass. I premiered both works at the USC United University Church Sanctuary on March 3rd, 2008.

ASCAP/Lotte Lehmann Foundation Art Song Competition

I was recently awarded the Damien Top Prize in the 2007 ASCAP/Lotte Lehmann Foundation Art Song Competition! I'm honored and thrilled that my work was selected. More info can be found here:
